About this project
The project "máquina das batatas" was essentialy about transmiting my personal experience into a visual narrative, as a way of observation and interpretation of this unique and intense work environment.
The narrative unfolds as a sequence of counter stations and tasks, following the accelerated rhythm of service — from preparing and assembling orders to constant customer interactions — highlighting the repetition and unpredictability of some iconic moments of this reality. This project conveys the behind-the-scenes in a raw, organic and expressive aesthetic.

Problem
The challenge was to create a coherent visual narrative across 10 spreads, a cover, and a back cover, ensuring continuity between pages while representing different tasks and moments. It was essential to maintain a consistent visual language — color, style, and composition — while also managing complex scenes and guiding the viewer’s focus.
Additionally, the project required translating everyday work situations into a humorous yet critical perspective, making the intensity of the environment visible to an outside audience.

Solution
The project was structured as a continuous sequence across 10 spreads, plus cover and back cover, ensuring narrative rhythm and cohesion. Four counter stations and four distinct tasks were represented, organizing the narrative while maintaining variety across the spreads. A consistent visual system was established through a restricted 2-color palette (blue and red) and a unified illustration style, ensuring all compositions belonged to the same visual language.
Each spread was designed with a clear focal point, using color contrast and composition to guide attention and create emphasis, especially in high-density scenes. Humor and exaggeration were applied to reinterpret iconic moments of the workspace, revealing the chaos with dynamic and creative compositions.
